A New Deal for Youth

Youth Step up and speak up on how we all matter.

March 14 marked 33 years since over 100 protesters with disabilities were arrested for demanding Congress pass the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

In 1990, the ADA was delayed in Congress and activists feared it would fail to pass at all. To put pressure on Congress, disability rights activists flooded DC. Many of them took part in the “Capitol Crawl,” where they put aside their mobility-assistance devices and crawled up the steps of the Capitol in a powerful demonstration of solidarity.
